Obituary: James D. Karam, Killed in a Car Crash in Berlin

James D. Karam Jr., 45, of Rocky Hill, was called home unexpectedly on a cool Spring evening, leaving behind a void in our hearts that can never be filled. 

Jimbo, as he was known, leaves behind his dad and best friend, James D. Karam Sr. and his stepmother Janet S. Ziegler of Middletown, his mother, Rosemary Kaminski of Berlin, his brother and best buddy, Anthony Karam of Berlin, his little sister, Nicole Karam of West Hartford, his three children who were the apples of his eye, James, Isabella, and Alyssa Karam, all of Berlin, and their mom, April D’Andrea. 

He also leaves his aunts and uncles, Walter and Marion Monsor in Arizona, Sam Karam in Florida, Flo Zottola of Berlin, and Elsie Benjamin of New Britain, his loving cousins, and more friends than a man can ask for, especially his best friend, Jim Hinkley. 

A graduate of Hall High School in West Hartford, he was a licensed electrician at Foxwoods Casino, and was a member of Elks Lodge #957 in New Britain, and the Italian Political Independent Club in Berlin. Jimbo leaves us with many memories to recall, his huge smile, and his famous words “sure, no problem." He will always remain in our hearts, and his memory will heal our broken hearts. 

Funeral services will be Tuesday (May 21, 2013) at 9 a.m. from Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington, with a Funeral Liturgy at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Church on Alling Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday (May 20, 2013) from 5-8 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Karam was killed in a two-car crash on Wethersfield Road in Berlin on Tuesday.
