Rocky Hill Man Dies in Berlin Car Crash

Berlin police are investigating a two-vehicle collision that happened Tuesday evening.

A local man died Tuesday after sustaining fatal injuries in a two-car crash on Wethersfield Road in Berlin.   

Berlin police said James Karam, 46, of Rocky Hill, was driving southbound when around 9:30 p.m. he struck a vehicle being driven by Nancy Benford, 67, of Berlin, near the intersection between Wethersfield and Beckley roads. 

Karam was airlifted via a LifeStar helicopter to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford however his injures were fatal and he did not survive, police said.   

Benford was taken to an unspecified hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.   

The Mid-State Accident Reconstruction Squad is handling the investigation.
