Rocky Hill Volunteer Receives National Girl Scout Honor

Girl Scouts of Connecticut is proud to announce that Kathy Villano of Rocky Hill was awarded the prestigious Girl Scout Appreciation Pin at the organization’s Annual Meeting on May 29. A national recognition for adult Girl Scouts, the Appreciation Pin recognizes a member who practices the values of inclusive behavior and who has delivered outstanding service above expectations to at least one geographic area within the state they serve. Kathy Villano has been a Troop Leader for 27 years, a Trainer for 20 years, Delegate for 15 years, and ran cookie pantry for 8 years. She has been a leader for Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, and Seniors, working with more than 100 girls over the years. As a facilitator, Kathy has trained hundreds of volunteers in Basic Leader Training and First Aid/CPR. All of the recipients of this year’s Appreciation Pin are inspiring, dedicated Girl Scout volunteers with a deep commitment to building girls of courage, confidence and character. Their exemplary leadership has helped Girl Scouts throughout Connecticut gain important lifetime skills they need to discover themselves and their values, connect with others to build healthy relationships, and take action in their communities to make the world a better place.
