The museum also displays a bird’s-eye view of the preserved Mesozoic floodplain. Dinosaur tracks, dioramas of Triassic and Jurassic environments, fossil collections and interactive exhibits can all be found here. The Friends of Dinosaur Park and Arboretum (FDPA), established in 1976 and governed by a board of directors, operates as a nonprofit organization devoted to promoting a better knowledge of the area's natural history. The FDPA also funds educational programs at the park and is always looking for volunteers. Dinosaur State Park is also part of the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation, Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection. Pets are allowed in the picnic area of the park, but not on the trails or in the museum.
