Zumba For Charity

Charity event will benefit the Village for Families and Children in Hartford.

The trainers from the studio will be going batty for a good cause the night before Halloween.

The Batzapalooza Zumbathon® will be from noon to 3 p.m. at Village for Families and Children, at 1680 Albany Ave. in Hartford, on Oct. 30. All the proceeds raised from the Batzapalooza Zumbathon® will be donated to the Village for Families and Children.

The Village for Families and Children is a non-profit organization that helps provide behavioral health and social services to "vulnerable members" of Hartford County, according to their website.

"They don't ask for donations unlike other organizations," Michelle Lombardo, owner of Wicked Z Dance and Fitness, said.

The Wicked Z Dance and Fitness trainers will join with Zumba trainers from California, Texas, Indiana and New Jersey for the Batzapalooza Zumbathon®.

Anyone who participates in Batzapalooza Zumbathon® can wear costumes however, they are not required.

The price to register in advance is $20 and can be done through PayPal to info@wickedzfitness.com. It is $25 at the door.

Lombardo is hoping people will attend the charity event, but she is also hoping people will visit the Wicked Z Dance and Fitness studio as well.

"I feel people don't know we are here," Lombardo said.

Wicked Z Dance and Fitness offers classes for a drop-in price of $5. For a lot of people, Zumba or exercise is "always the first thing to go," Lombardo said.

"I know there is a lot of Zumba out there," Lombardo said. "We get them in here with the low price, but we keep them with the quality of our instructors. You want to give them a quality experience."

trainers will also do a Zumbathon® from noon to 2 p.m. at the Pitkin Community Center in Wethersfield on Nov. 6. The Zumbathon® is to benefit the Wethersfield High School safe graduation party.
