The End of the Heat Wave is in Sight!

Temperatures are expected to drop this weekend after heavy rain, according to the National Weather Service.

After a brutal heat wave that threatened to set record drains on the state’s power supply, it looks like relief is finally in sight.

This weekend is poised to see dropping temperatures after heavy rains this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.  With the heat topping out around 95 degrees, temperatures should drop into the low 80’s beginning Sunday.

Here’s a hopeful look forward to this weekend’s forecast:

Friday:  High 94.  Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 94. Heat index values as high as 101. Light south wind becoming southwest 9 to 14 mph in the morning.

Friday Night: Low 74.  Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 74. Southwest wind 6 to 9 mph.

Saturday: High 91.  Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 5pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 91. Southwest wind 7 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday Night: Low 68.  Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 11pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Cloudy, with a low around 68. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Sunday: High 85.  A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday Night: Low 62.  Partly cloudy, with a low around 62.

Monday: High 84.  Partly sunny, with a high near 84.
