Six Rocky Hill Residents Finish Boston Marathon

High temperatures cause problems for several runners during 116th annual event.

 

Of the more than 22,000 runners who competed in the 116th Boston Marathon on Monday, six of them were Rocky Hill residents.

According to the Boston Athletic Association, the Rocky Hill runners finished the marathon in the following times:

  • Todd Brown, 48, 3:31:44, 3285
  • Rob Speers, 44, 3:27:04, 2652
  • Nancy K. Fitzgibbon, 48, 3:53:01, 7066
  • Thomas J. Caruso, 51, 4:34:02, 14759
  • Mary M Daley, 58, 4:42:55, 15865
  • Leah M. Spector, 25, 5:04:45, 18061

The top finishers for men and women were Wesley Korir (2:12:40) and Sharon Cherop (2:31:40), who are both from Kenya.

More than 3,000 marathon runners elected not to show up and hundreds more had to retire early because the high temperatures, which were in the 80’s, overcame them.
