Athletes with and without disabilities are welcome to compete in the Unified Sports Tournament sponsored by the Rocky Hill Parks and Recreation Department. But if you want to sign up, you have to hurry. The deadline to register is Friday, November 2.
The tournament, for students in grades 2 – 8, is a registered program of Special Olympics. As part of the program, young people with disabilities train and compete with a peer mentor/sports buddy of similar age and sports ability. Sports mentors in grades 2 – 12 are needed.
The tournament takes place Saturday, November 17, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Jack Jackter Intermediate School, 315 Halls Hill Road, Colchester.
The cost to compete is $10 per athlete and mentor. A T-shirt is included for first-time participants.
Preregistration is required. The program will be cancelled if a minimum number of participants fail to sign up.
