Rocky Hill Resident Treated Like VIP by Red Sox

One lucky resident of Rocky Hill got the chance to explore Fenway Park, meet the Red Sox's manager and get interviewed by the Boston media last month.

Loretta Dyson of Sawmill Road was selected by the Boston Red Sox as the Connecticut winner of the 2012 Red Sox Road Trip presented by Coca-Cola.

The contest winner and her guests (her son David, her daughter Elaine and her daughter’s husband Bill) were treated to lunch at Jerry Remy's restaurant along with the five other winners from New England on Jan. 27. The group got a private tour of the Red Sox clubhouse and the visitor's batting cage. The Dyson family even got to meet and talk with Red Sox Manager Bobby Valentine.

When the quartet entered the clubhouse, they were directed to a locker with Loretta's name written over it. During the baseball season, the locker belongs to starting catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia.

"Mom was thrilled," said her son, David Dyson.

Loretta Dyson even spent some time with the tough Boston media.

"Mom was the star of the event," David Dyson said. "She was interviewed at great length by NESN journalist Dara McIntosh."
