Both Rocky Hill Legion Teams Eying State Tournament Berths

Both teams are number one in their zones.

 

It appears that both Rocky Hill-Cromwell-Portland American Legion teams are headed back to the state tournament for the second year in a row.

RCP has a 14-3 record and is in first place in Zone 7. With 14 wins on the season, RCP has already qualified for the state tournament. The team is led by Dan Bouchard, who is hitting .370, and Jeff Osak, who has a batting average of .343.

Last year, RCP finished in second place with a in Zone 7. RCP had eight errors in opening round of the 2011 tournament and

Rocky Hill resident Alex Fulco has been playing well and is a consistent in the starting line-up.

The junior team has 12-1 record and is in first place in Zone 7. The team is being lead by Rocky Hill players Chris Bouchard, Kyle Whalen and Brendan Sullivan, who are also seeing time at the senior level as well.

Bouchard just picthed a no-hitter against West Hartford "to revenge RCP’s only loss at the junior level," said coach Jay Hickey in an email Thursday afternoon.

Last year, the junior team won the and lost to Norwalk 2-0 in the play-in round.

"Both teams will attempt to continue their successful season while they position themselves for the 2012 Connecticut American Legion Baseball State Tournament," Hickey said.

The last day of the 2012 regular season is July 19 and the tournament will begin on July 21.
