Aspen Re Baseball Team Wins Two Games on Saturday

Rocky Hill team will play in the semi-finals of the Jaycee-TD Bank Baseball League Monday night.

Aspen Re, which consists of players from Rocky Hill, is headed to the junior division semi-finals in the Jaycee-TD Bank Baseball League after two big wins on Saturday.

The team started Saturday morning by beating the CT Tide, which consists of players from West Hartford, 19-12. The game, which had suspended on Thursday due to rain, was an offensive showcase.

The offensive highlights included a home run by Shaun McKinnon and David Sevigny and Chris Bouchard each had three hits. Bouchard had five RBIs and Sevigny added three of his own.

Aspen Re, which consists of boys between the ages of 13 to 15, also turned two double plays.

Later on that day, Aspen Re would go on to beat New Britain Parks 17-5. The team received five strong innings from pitcher Tommy Seaver, who also had three hits in the game.

Kyle Whalen had another great game defensively behind the plate and Mike Bordonaro continued to show his power.

Aspen Re will play in the semi-finals Monday at 5:30 p.m. against Farmington Bank at Rocky Hill High School. If Aspen Re wins, they will play the winner of the Pro Courier vs. Pace Construction matchup Wednesday night at Northwest Park in Manchester for the championship.

The JCTD Bank baseball league, which was established in 1946, is considered to be one of the largest independent baseball programs in the country, according to the league’s website.
