Students Recieve Art Honors

Winning selections at the 23rd annual Connecticut Regional Scholastic Art Awards were selected from over 1,500 entries.

 

Six Rocky Hill High School students won awards at the 23rd annual Connecticut Regional Scholastic Art Awards in January.

Kate Gibson won a Silver Key for her abstract digital art. Katherine Lewkowicz won an honorable mention in Photography and Leo DeJen earned an honorable mention for his abstract work in the category of design. John Boison, Danny Hayden and Jordan Labossiere won an Honorable Mention for their public service announcement in the category of Film and Animation.

The art teachers from Rocky Hill High School each submit four student works to the competiton each year. Artists, university faculty and professionals in the field reviewed and selected the best work from over 1,500 student entries from 130 participating schools.

The winning pieces of artwork along with other pieces by Rocky Hill High and Griswold Middle school students will be on display at the Cora J. Belden Library from March 1 to April 5. An opening reception will be held on on March 8 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
