Rocky Hill High School Coach Resigns

After leading the girls' volleyball team to a state championship and baseball team to the playoffs, George McKinnon has resigned from his position.

 

George McKinnon has stepped down from his position as the coach of the girls' volleyball and boys' baseball teams.

Acting Athletic Director Richard Seidman informed Patch of McKinnon's decision in a phone interview Monday morning.

"We appreciate his years of service and wish him well in his future endeavors," he told Patch.

Seidman added that McKinnon's decision to leave was his own.

"It was his decison to resign, not ours," he said.

Six years ago, McKinnon took over a girls' volleyball program that he previously said "." However, the program would turn around and went to six straight state tournaments. McKinnon's volleyball journey ended with a .

It is believed that McKinnon has coached baseball at Rocky Hill High School for more than eight seasons, Seidman said. This past season, he where they were defeated by St. Joseph High School in the opening round, 15-1.

In an email to Patch, McKinnon said he did not wish to comment further on his resignation.
