Foundation Helps Fund Students' Education

The 14th Annual Renaissance Ball for the Rocky Hill Education Foundation will be held in February.

 

A local organization is working to better the education of the students in town by funding “big picture” projects.

The mission of the Rocky Hill Education Foundation is to build a partnership between the business community and public education while fostering educational opportunities for all students in town.

The program helped start a reading program for the Rocky Hill Public Schools, purchase a new saxophone for the and obtain a mobile media presentation center for the . The group has also funded the Nature Classroom, which sends and school fifth graders to camp to prepare for .

“It is more of the big picture items,” said Liza Anderson of Rocky Hill Education Foundation. "We tackle the big programs."

The 14th Annual Renaissance Ball for the Rocky Hill Education Foundation will be held on Feb. 14 at the Wethersfield Country Club from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

"It is our biggest fundraiser," Anderson said.

There will be a cocktail hour, full dinner and music will be provided by disc jockey Mike Stacy of Lite 100.5 FM. The Jazz Band is also expected to perform.

The Rocky Hill Education Foundation meets the first Tuesday of every month at 8 a.m. in the Board of Education office. The meetings are open to the public and anyone is encouraged to attend.

The group is a creating a website, which will have an area for people to donate through PayPal accounts and receive updates on their programs.
