Halloween Dance Will Provide Alternative to Drinking

Proceeds from the dance will help fund the Rocky Hill Coalition's projects.

Middle school students will get the chance to dance the night away without having to deal with the pressures of alcohol and drinking.

Junior Vanessa Iafrancesco along with  and the other members of the will be chaperoning a Halloween dance for  students on Oct. 29.

"The idea is to have an alternative to drinking," Iafrancesco said. There will be parent, adult and police chaperones as well.

Iafrancesco said the dance would allow students to "be themselves."

"They can come and interact with us (high school students)."

Students are being asked to wear appropriate costumes. No gory costumes or masks will be allowed at the dance.

The dance will feature games, dance offs and contests. The music will be provided by a disc jockey from Boppers Entertainment in Rocky Hill.

The admission price is $5 and a bag of groceries for the . Students are asked to bring whatever non-perishable food items they can afford even, if it is one can.

All the proceeds from the dance will benefit the projects of the .

The dance is part of the 's efforts to stop substance abuse among teenagers during Red Ribbon Week.
