According to a report written by Fire Marshal Rich Renstrom, 50 fire code safety violations were discovered after he toured the four Rocky Hill Public Schools with Facilities Manager Richard Cooke from April 16 to 20.
In an interview with Patch Monday afternoon, Interim Superintendent of Schools Mark Winzler said all of the violations that could be corrected by the school system have been. Artwork and teaching materials will no longer exceed 20 percent of the wall area of classrooms or corridors and extension cords as well as small appliances such as mini-fridges and microwaves have been removed.
The school buildings are run by the central office, but are maintained by the town, Winzler said.
Some items such as chemical storage room being separated from the remainder of the building are expected to be , Renstrom told the Courant last week.
Renstrom is expected to reexamine the schools 30 days after the initial inspection.
