Central CT Health District Offers FREE Session on Breast Health

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, and has been increasing steadily over the past several decades. In 2004, more than 500 Connecticut women died from breast cancer. Connecticut had the third highest rate of new breast cancers in the United States between
2000 and 2004. With early detection, breast cancer can be more easily treated, and the likelihood of survival increases. That's why early detection through education and screening methods, including mammograms and breast exams, is very important (CT Dept. of Public Health website://www.ctgov/dph, 2007).

For these reasons, the Central Connecticut Health District (CCHD) will be hosting a free, informative and interactive talk regarding breast health and the importance of regular screenings and prevention with Donna Boehm, MSN, MPH, of the Hospital of Central Connecticut.

Residents of the CCHD-- including the towns of Berlin, Newington, Rocky Hill and Wethersfield--are welcome, and light refreshments will be served.
