CCHD Offers Free Nutrition Course

The Central Connecticut Health District (CCHD) is offering a free educational course designed to assist individuals in managing healthy and affordable eating habits. The program will consist of four educational sessions, each covering a different aspect of nutrition management, including how to shop on a budget, properly read food labels and incorporate more fruits and vegetables in the diet.

Classes will be held on four consecutive Thursday evenings: 1/12/12, 1/19/12, 1/26/12 and 2/2/12. In the event of a snow storm, all classes will be pushed to the following week.

The Health District received funding from the Connecticut Department of Public Health to present this program, which is open to residents of Berlin, Newington, Rocky Hill and Wethersfield who have an interest in developing healthier eating habits and learning how to spend those grocery dollars wisely.

At the last class, Ms. Brinckman will host a tour of Stop and Shop Supermarket in Rocky Hill to provide information on how to read food labels and what to avoid when shopping. Participants should arrive at the store by 6:15 p.m.
