Children Participate in Vocabulary Parade

Elementary students made homemade costumes based on vocabulary words and paraded around West Hill School Monday morning.

The staff at the  held the first ever Vocabulary Parade Monday morning.

Elementary students made homemade costumes based on vocabulary words chosen by their teachers. The teachers chose social studies, science and general reading words relevant to the student's grade level, Principal Megan L. Bennett said. 

"Here's your word, go with it."

Bennett said the parade allowed students the chance to make their own costumes near Halloween that were educational and involved their parents.

As the children headed to the cafeteria, Bennett, who was dressed in an algorithm costume, greeted each student.

The parade was delayed a week because Rocky Hill Public Schools were closed due to the Snowstorm Alfred.

On Monday morning, many of the children's parents turned out to see their students in their homemade costumes.
