Change In Building Access Procedure At Stevens Elementary School

This change is being made to further improve security for our children as well as the staff working in the building.

Beginning immediately there will be a change to the Myrtle H. Stevens Elementary School building access procedure.

This change is being made to further improve security for our children as well as the staff working in the building.  As you know, all doors to the school are locked throughout the day with the exception of the front door which has been unlocked in the morning until school begins and again in the afternoon at dismissal time.

Beginning immediately, all doors, including the front door will be locked at all times.  This will affect parents of Kind’s Link students the most.  To resolve this issue, Kid’s Link staff will be monitoring the door to allow parents and students to enter.  In the event that you do not see a person, just knock and someone will let you in.

Between the hours of 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM, the office secretary will be able to buzz in individuals who have a scheduled meeting with a teacher or other appropriate reasons for being in the building.

Individuals or groups who need to access the building after 4:30 will need to make arrangements ahead of time.

Parents who are picking children up from after school programs that get out after 4:30 may have to wait outside the front doors until the children are dismissed from their program.

If you have any questions regarding this change in access to the building, please contact the school.
