Emily Anderson had 22 points, including 8-for-9 shooting from the free throw line, to power Rocky Hill to a 54-41 victory over Fermi in CCC East girls basketball action Monday night in Enfield.
The Terriers held Fermi to just two points in the first quarter, and led by as much as 14 before the Falcons came back to trail 23-16 at halftime.
"We shot ourselves in the foot, and couldn't get out of our own way in the first half," Fermi head coach Sean Sweeney said. "We put ourselves in a hole, then came out in the second half and played great for a minute, but then threw the ball away seven consecutive times."
A three-pointer by Stacey Kraucunas brought Fermi within six early in the second half, but a 15-3 Rocky Hill spurt over the next eight minutes put the game out of reach. The Falcons cut the lead to single digits just once, in the final minute of the fourth quarter.
Kirstyn Arcata had 13 points for the Terriers, while Kraucunas topped the Falcons with 17 points. The Terriers, who have won two in a row, got a "fine all around game" from Rachel Sekorski who had seven rebounds and Jessica Lanciotto added six boards of her own.
"We played one of our better all around games," said Rocky Hill Head Coach Peter Egan.
Both teams return to action Thursday at 7 p.m. against formidable opponents. Rocky Hill (4-5) hosts Tolland, while Fermi (3-7) travels to E.O. Smith.
