[Update] More Than 1,3000 Voters Turn Out For Republican, Democrat Primaries in Rocky Hill

More than 300 people voted before lunch had been served.

As of 7 p.m., 1,369 of the 6,621 registered voters in town or 20.9 percent have voted, according to unofficial numbers supplied by the Registrar of Voters. For Democrats, 791 people or 18.3 percent have voted and for Republicans, 578 or 25.2 percent have casted their vote. The absentee ballots have been counted at this time.

As of 5 p.m., 1,249 of the 6,621 registered voters in town or 18.9 percent have voted, according to unofficial numbers supplied by the Registrar of Voters. For Democrats, 725 people have voted and for Republicans, 529 have casted their vote. The absentee ballots have been counted at this time.

Hundreds of Rocky Hill residents have visited the ballots before lunch time to cast their votes in the Democratic and Republican primaries.

As of 10 a.m., 340 of the 6,621 registered voters in town or 5.14 percent have voted, according to unofficial numbers supplied by the Registrar of Voters. For Democrats, 196 people have voted and for Republicans, 144 have casted their vote. The absentee ballots have not been counted at this time.

All Connecticut residents, either Republicans or Democrats, who vote in Tuesday's primary will choose between two candidates in their respective parties for the open U.S. Senate race.

This is the seat currently held by U.S. Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, a former Democrat-turned-Independent who is retiring.

DEMOCRATS

  • , current congressman from the Fifth District, the party's endorsed candidate and a Cheshire resident.

REPUBLICANS

  • Linda E. McMahon, a former CEO Of WWE, the party's endorsed candidate and Greenwich resident.
  • , former congressman from the 4th Congressional District in Fairfield County and a resident of Bridgeport.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. In Rocky Hill the polling places are:

  • , 95 Cronin Dr.;
  • , 144 Bailey Rd.;
  • , 761 Old Main St.

Though turnout has been good, the Registrar of Voters said they do not have enough information to compare the numbers to.
