The Ballots Are Set

A lottery held Wednesday night determined the candidates' position on the ballot.

The Registrars of Voters on the November ballot Wednesday night at the .

The Town Council candidates will appear on the ballot as follows:

  • Democrat - Republican
  • Larrye DeBear - Frank Szeps
  • Timothy Moriarty - Jeff Thomen
  • Philip Sylvestro - Nadine Bell
  • Joe Kochanek - Jeff Murray
  • Barbara Surwilo - Catherine Vargas

The Board of Education candidates will appear on the ballot as follows:

The has vacancies for Board of Education and Board of Assessment Appeals. One Zoning Board of Appeals alternate spot will be left vacant because the Republican Party did not fill the position originally.

If any candidates come forward after Sept. 14, the ballots will have to be reprinted at a cost of $3,000 to the town.

The last day for a primary is Sept. 13, however no primaries are expected, according to Republican Registrar Patricia E. Beyer.

The ballots will be sent out electronically in the near future and when they return, the Registrars of Voters will proofread them before Sept. 14, Democratic Registrar Janet W. Viggiano said. The absentee ballots will be available on Oct. 7.
