Rocky Hill Ferry to Close Indefinitely Due to River Flooding

The ferry runs between Glastonbury and Rocky Hill.

The Connecticut River ferry that runs between Glastonbury and Rocky Hill closed on Friday and will remain out of service indefinitely, according to a notice from the state Department of Transportation.

The DOT said the closure is happening to due to river flooding.The notice was posted on the DOT's traffic incidents page Friday morning.

This is the second time this year ferry travel has been put on hold. The 2013 season got a 10-day late start earlier this month so the ferry could be outfitted with a newer engine and parts.

The ferry is the longest continuously run of its kind in the country.
