Voter Registration Deadline Extended by Governor

Rocky Hill Registrar of Voters will remain open until 8 p.m.

The power outages caused by the snowstorm have forced the governor to extend the deadline for voter registration almost a week.

Gov. Dannel Malloy signed an executive order that extended the deadline for voter registration in this upcoming election until Nov. 7 at noon.

In a press conference last night, Malloy assured the public that a snowstorm would not stop people's ability to register to vote.

“The severity of the power outages and other damage from this past weekend’s snow has the potential to disenfranchise thousands of Connecticut voters who are without electricity and even unable to leave their homes,” said Secretary of the State Denise Merrill.

The Rocky Hill Registrar of Voters will be open Tuesday until 8 p.m. for residents to register to vote and will be open all Monday to help with registration purposes.
