Human Services Receives Grant

The money will be used for emergency fuel assistance program.

Rocky Hill Human Services was given a $3,000 grant from the Hartford Foundation for its emergency fuel assistance program.

The Hartford Foundation, whose mission is to improve the lives of residents in Hartford County, distributed grants to 66 nonprofit agencies in the greater Hartford area. Over $450,000 in grant money was given to the agencies to help provide people with basic needs.

“Many social service agencies in the region report that the need for food, shelter, health/mental health, employment and other basic services is greater than ever,” Linda J. Kelly, president of the Hartford Foundation said in a release Wednesday. “These grants help agencies help residents who continue to struggle.”

The grants ranged from $2,000 to $15,000, “depending on the size of the agency, scope of services and number of people served,“ the release said. Agencies in Simsbury, Vernon, West Hartford and Wethersfield also received grant money.
