Hearing on Plan for Apartments, Medical Facility Set for August

A developer is looking for a special permit for the mixed-use facility.

A public hearing was scheduled at a recent planning and zoning meeting for August on the Brookside apartments and medical office facility proposal.

A pre-application review was presented at the June 15 meeting, which means an applicant and the commission can discuss a concept, but nothing is bidding.

Patrick Gorman with the LRC Group has submitted a special permit for a mixed use facility on the north side of Brook Street with 144 residential units and about 5,750 square feet of medical office.

The hearing has been scheduled for August 17 at 6 p.m. inside the council chambers at town hall.

The application was also discussed at the June 8 Inland Wetlands meeting. The wetland members had concerns with the application and felt the project disturbed the upland review. The application was tabled and the applicant was told to find ways to minimize the impact on the environment.

A wetland assessment of the application will be discussed at the next meeting on July 13. The committee has 65 days to act on the application from the day it is first submitted.
