Doyle Helps Seniors Learn About Arthritis

Large crowd turns out for annual Senior Expo in Cromwell.

Sen. Paul Doyle, D-Rocky Hill, hosted the fifth annual Senior Expo at the Cromwell Senior Center Wednesday.

The annual event, which fell on World Arthritis Day, offered free health screenings to attendees in addition to information on arthritis and other medical conditions. Visitors were also informed about a wide variety of government programs and business discounts for senior citizens.

“I am very pleased with the turnout of seniors today from the 9th District. I heard many appreciative comments about the services and items offered at the event. I look forward to doing this again next year,” said Sen. Doyle.

In recognition of World Arthritis Day, Sue Nesci of the Arthritis Foundation was in attendance to distribute information on Arthritis and perform exercises with visitors.

“Arthritis is a growing problem, and we want people to know that they don’t have to accept arthritis—they don’t just have to live with it,” Nesci, who has suffered from arthritis herself in her hands, shoulders, knees and feet, said.
