Rocky Hill Police to conduct DUI Checkpoint June 6

Stop will be done on Connecticut Route 3 and checkpoints will continue ll summer long.

The Rocky Hill Police Department has obtained a grant from the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Division to support increased DUI detection and enforcement efforts as part of the 2013 Comprehensive DUI Enforcement Program.  

As part of the DUI enforcement program a roadside sobriety checkpoint will be held on June 6 on Connecticut Route-3 known locally as Cromwell Ave. Roadside sobriety checkpoints have been shown to be the most effective method to detect and apprehend under the influence drivers.  

"The purpose of the checkpoint is to reduce the accidents and injuries related to DUI drivers and help provide safe travel," Rocky Hill  Lieutenant Brian P. Klett said. "Supplemental staffing will be provided by Police Officers from the towns of Berlin, Cromwell, Newington, and Wethersfield."
