Police Still Investigating Death of Rocky Hill Gunman

A man who reportedly shot a woman in a town condo complex Thursday evening was found dead later inside the home, police said.

Rocky Hill police have not yet released the name of the gunman who shot a woman whom he knew Thursday evening and was then later found dead in a condo complex.

According to a news release from the Rocky Hill Police Department, officers received a report of a shooting at the Westage Condominiums, located between West and Main streets, at 8:24 p.m.

Initial calls reported that there was a disturbance between two people and that single female victim had been shot multiple times, police said.

Police said first responders were able to safely evacuate the woman to an area hospital. The area was evacuated and town, state and tactical support police surrounded the condo where the gunman was, police said.

Police said they tried to make contact with the shooter but all attempts failed. They entered the home and found the suspect dead at the scene.

Police have declined to name either the suspect or the victim, although they did say the pair knew each other. They said there is no additional threat to the community.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is still investigating the man’s cause of death.
