Middletown police arrested a couple Saturday after a man hit his 5-year-old son for spilling marijuana, according to NBC Connecticut.
Edward Salz, 37, and the child’s mother, Bobbi-Jo Lamont, 26, allegedly went to a bar for drinks and left two young children — the 5-year-old boy and his 3-year-old sister — alone in a home that contained drug paraphernalia, the New Haven Register reported.
Police were called to the apartment on Main Street sometime before 7:30 p.m. Saturday, after Salz allegedly hit his son in the head five times because the child spilled his father’s marijuana, according to the New Haven Register. Police arrested Salz and Lamont.
Salz was charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, NBC Connecticut reported, and Lamont was charged with breach of peace and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.
