Police Conducting DUI Checkpoint On Friday On The Berlin Turnpike

The effort will be paid for with a state grant.

A press release from the Wethersfield Police Department:

In an effort to deter motorists from driving while under the influence of alcohol and or drugs, the Wethersfield Police Department will be conducting a D.U.I checkpoint on Friday evening, Aug. 30th, 2013 on the Berlin Turnpike.

Funding for this initiative was made possible by a grant awarded from the Connecticut Department of Transportation. Each year thousands of lives are lost, many more are injured as a result of alcohol related accidents.

The Wethersfield Police Department hopes that its efforts will provide safer traveling and greater awareness of the results of driving under the influence and help reduce the loss of lives and injuries by removing intoxicated drivers from the roads.
