[Update] West Street Reopens After 17 Hours

The cause of the accident is still under investigation at this time.

 

Update: 10:30 p.m. West Street was reopened over 17 hours after an overnight accident, according to DOT. There are no updates from police at this time.

The  is investigating an overnight accident on West Street that damaged a utility pole and knocked out power to residents in the area.

Police officers and firefighters were called to an accident on West Street near the Carillon Drive intersection at 2:49 a.m.

Firefighters were able to secure the scene while Connecticut Light and Power crews repaired a utility pole that had been knocked down because of the accident, fire officials said.

The accident is under investigation by Rocky Hill Police Department. There is no word if anyone was injured in the crash.

As of 11 a.m., there were 11 customers in Rocky Hill without power, according to the Connecticut Light and Power website.

West Street until the Main Street intersection has been closed since just before 5 a.m., according to the Department of Transportation website. The area should be closed until 1 or 2 p.m. Crews are waiting for AT&T to arrive, but the pole has been fixed, police dispatch said.
