No One Injured in Two Apartment Fires

Fire Marshal rules both fires accidental.

The fire marshal has ruled two fires at apartment complex on Penn Place Thursday night accidental.

Firefighters were called to 9 Penn Place just before 9:30 p.m., Fire Marshal Richard Renstrom said. When firefighters arrived, they found a kitchen fire in a third floor unit. An electrical wire had been draped over a burner, which caught a cabinet on fire and short-circuited a microwave, Renstrom said.

As firefighters were preparing to leave, a second kitchen fire occurred in a second floor apartment unit. The resident had left a pan with cooking oil unattended, Renstrom said.
