Eagle Scout Beatifies Veterans Memorial Amphitheater
If you have noticed the flowers at the , you can thank a local eagle scout for the spring blossoms.
Joseph Rinicks, who is a senior at Greater Hartford Academy of Math and Science where he studies aerospace and engineering school, completed his Eagle scout project on June 3 after he planted a perennial garden on the sides of the .

Rinicks received guidance from the Park and Recreation Department to complete his eagle program. He added that he helped design the layout of the gardens and planted the perennials mostly by himself.
"I see what a project of this caliber takes to complete, it is not as easy as it sounds," he said. But, "if you do the right amount of planning, it will turn into a nice garden or whatever you are planting."

Ben Joyce of Rocky Hill finished first in at the Travelers Championship on June 9.
Joyce completed the race in 16:47.
The race will help 200 children attend the Hartford’s Camp Courant.

Dinner For Youth Volunteers
The members of a local youth organization will be honored with a dinner tonight for all their hard work and commitment.
The goal of the , which was , is to bring middle and high school students together with parents, town officials, business owners and police officers to help bring awareness to the community about substance abuse by underage children and show students that there are better activities than underage drinking.
The event will be at from 4:30 to 6 p.m. All members of the Rocky Hill Coalition, Bureau Advisory Board, Community of Concern and Local Prevention Council are encouraged to attend.

According to daysoftheyear.com, the make-shift holiday was created "to make use of a sewing machine."
