National Chain Sandwich Shop Closes in Rocky Hill
D'Angelo is no longer serving sandwiches in Rocky Hill.
The business shut its doors sometime in June, according to Economic Development Director Ray Carpentino. The space at 781 Cromwell Ave. was believed to be "too big" for the grilled sandwich business, he added.
"They were wasting money," Carpentino said in an interview with Patch Tuesday morning.
Carpentino said he recently sent an email to a regional manger with the company on some of the available properties in town. However, he has not heard back from the company.

"It is unfortunate," he said. "We would have quite a few spaces for them."
Spaces Available For Bus Trip to Mohegan Sun Later This Month
There are 10 slots still left on the sponsored bus trip scheduled for July 28.
"We plan to depart from Rocky Hill at 3:30 p.m. from the parking lot at , 30 Waterchase Dr. Rocky Hill. We will return to Rocky Hill around 10:30 p.m.," said Gerry Luczak in an email to members.
Anyone who signs up for the bus trip will receive the following items:
- $15 food voucher that is good at any restaurant or it can be used to reduce the cost of the buffet
- $10 bet, which you will be able to place at a designated location
The cost fo the bus trip is $17, which needs to be paid prior to July 19. Seating, which is limited, will be assigned on a first come basis.

Tourism will be the Topic of Discussion at the Gathering Place
will be holding its monthly breakfast at Friday from 7:30 to 9 a.m.
Local business owners and Chamber of Commerce members gather the third Friday of every month at a local business to network, eat breakfast and discuss topics affecting small businesses.
"We will be discussing how tourism plays a role in economic development," said Chamber of Commerce in an email Tuesday.
Breakfast will be provided by the chefs at The Lodge at Cold Spring.

7- Eleven to Offer Free Slurpees
It's pretty easy to remember an anniversary when the date and the company name are the same. To celebrate the company's 85th anniversary, 7-Eleven will provide free Slurpees from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
In keeping with the dual-number theme, the free iced drinks will be served in 7.11 ounce-size cups, available while supplies last.
For Rocky Hill residents, there is no 7-Eleven in town, however there is one located a little more than two and a half miles away in .
“This year we expect to give away 7 million Slurpee drinks, more than ever before, beating last year’s offer by 2 million," Joe DePinto, 7-Eleven president and CEO, said in a statement.
7-Eleven got its start in 1927, the statement said, when an employee started selling bread, milk and eggs on an ice dock in a Dallas suburb. The corporation now has 9,300 7-Eleven stores in North America and nearly 50,000 worldwide.
