Five Things: Smurfs To Be Shown After Dark in Rocky Hill

The National Weather Service predicts a sunny day with a high near 93 and low around 68 with winds becoming calm in the afternoon and evening.

Summer Movies Premiere Tonight in Rocky Hill

The "Smurfs" will be the first movie of the summer shown tonight at the  in back of .

The following movies, which are sponsored by the Park and Recreation Department, will be shown throughout the month of July:

  • The Zookeeper - July 13
  • Puss in Boots - July 20
  • The Muppets - July 30 

Movie goers are asked to bring blankets, chairs and snacks, according to a Park and Recreation Department email.

There is ample parking at the venue and all movies will be shown at dusk and are free of charge.

If a movie is cancelled due to inclement weather, that movie will be shown the following week instead of the regularly scheduled movie. Check the Park and Recreation Department website and Rocky Hill Patch to see if the movie has been cancelled.

Volunteers Needed to Cleanup Dividend Park

Volunteers will continue their beatification of the Saturday morning.

The party is looking for one to two people to help with blazing the yellow trail, according to Ed Chicucarello in an email sent on June 12. The group is meeting at the corner of Pleasant Valley Road at 8 a.m.

Anyone interested in helping is asked to contact Chiucarello, by emailing him at lexarded@cox.net.

The group recently , shingles from Dividend Park, where a  was held for earlier this month. About 45 volunteers spent more than 300 hours cleaning up Dividend Park over the past few months, according to Chicucarello.

Afterschool Club At BounceU

is offering an for students who attend .

The program "gives children a balance of playtime and homework assistance," according to the company's website.

Children will be dropped off at BounceU by the school bus and will have to be picked up by 6 p.m.

Cost per child each month is the following:

  • $325 – 5 days per week
  • $254 – 3 days per week

Food Share Event

Foodshare Inc. along with volunteers from the will be distributing fresh fruits and vegetables to disadvantaged citizens this weekend at from 1:30 to 2 p.m.

A distribution will also occur on July 20 at the same time. For more information, call the Oasis Church at 860.529.0701.or Foodshare at 860-286-9999.
