Dance the Day Away

Some Dancing Fun at The Lodge at Cold Spring.

Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? On Saturday, June 23, Ellen Seelen visited The Lodge at Cold Spring with her crew to perform a dance demonstration for residents. Ellen has been teaching and performing dance her whole life, and is still doing so at 75 years old! Some of her students have gone on to become award-winning dancers, and now she dedicates a good deal of her time spreading the joys of dance to fellow senior citizens.

After showing The Lodge residents some stretching and giving her backstory, Ellen and her team dazzled all in attendance with some great numbers. Dances that she did included the Rumba, Merengue, and the Macarena. And Ellen didn’t just sow the residents how it was done; she encouraged them to join in! The residents responded by grabbing a dance partner and getting on the floor to show their stuff. From there, she and the residents laughed and danced the day away.
