Jump Rope For Hope at Myrtle H. Stevens Elementary

Jump Rope for Hope A Fundraiser for Sandy Hook Elementary School

We Knew we had to do something for Newtown and Sandy Hook Elementary especially. To take such a tragic event and put the positive spin that the staff, Administration and PTO was able to accomplish by incorporating music, exercises, glow in the dark sticks and total school spirit the kids were able to raise over $12,300. Money is still trickling in and we expect that total to rise in the coming days.

The money raised will be used to fund enrichment programs for Sandy Hook Elementary. Exactly how and when will be discussed at our next PTO meeting with our membership.

The entire gym at Stevens was transformed into darkness as each class was given jump ropes and glow in the dark necklaces. As each class entered the gym, we took a class picture with the students holding up a banner that read " Steven's School Loves You".

All the pictures will be made into a scrapbook and delivered to the Sandy Hook PTA in the coming weeks. Words cannot describe the enthusiasm and smile that each child carried as they participated in the event. We would like to thank everyone involved with the event, It certainly takes a village. We are so proud of our community and it's continued support of our school. School spirit is alive and well at Myrtle H Stevens.
