We have a municipal election coming up Nov. 8. Voters in Rocky Hill will have the chance to elect a new Town Council, Board of Education, and other positions in our town government.
But, the unfortunate reality of municipal elections is consistently low voter turnout. People seem uninterested when there are just local candidates on the ballot. The last few elections have averaged 20-30% participation depending on the year.
I feel that no other elections come close to having a greater impact on the residents of Rocky Hill than the municipals. While the national races are important, the local elections determine the quality of education for your children, the level of town services provided, and the amount of taxes each resident is responsible for.
