Spring Kid's Cooking Classes at Stew Leonard's Farm Fresh Food!

Spring Break Culinary Classes for Kids at Stew Leonard’s in Newington


Stew Leonard's Newington store, located at 3475 Berlin Turnpike, Newington, Connecticut, is offering nine new cooking classes for children between the ages of five and 12 years old durinig March and April 2013. They will also offer an all-new class for tots aged two to five. The children receive hands-on instruction in preparing various products as well as learn about the importance of measuring, cooperation skills in the kitchen and the importance of 
food safety. 

Price is per child per class, which is payable at the time of registration. Classes will be held in Stew Leonard’s Executive Kitchen on the second floor of the grocery store in Newington. Children do not need to be accompanied by an adult, except for the class for toddlers, which requires an adult to supervise their little one.

Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. 
Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! 
Join us as we make cooking fun and whimsical with some tasty treats inspired by some of our favorite Dr. Seuss books. We’ll make green eggs and ham, the Grinch’s Who-Hash, Tuffala Tree Pops from The Lorax, and colorful pinwheel cookies! Kids ages 5-12 are welcome and registration is $25. 

Friday, March 15, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. 
Luck O’ the Irish
 
Shamrocks are turning up everywhere in this St. Patrick’s Day inspired class. Green Macaroni and Cheese, Green Mint Brownies, “End of the Rainbow” pot of gold sugar cookies, and yummy Leprechaun milkshakes! Kids ages 5-12 are welcome and registration is $25. 

Friday, March 29, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. 
Easter Treats
 
Hoppin’ down the bunny trail, we will make carrot shaped sugar cookies in a cup of dirt, Easter basket cupcakes and pastel marshmallow pops. Kids ages 5-12 are welcome and registration is $15 per child. 

Friday, April 12, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.6-7:30pm 
Breakfast for Dinner Pajama Party
 
Come on down and start your school vacation with a Pajama Party at Stew’s! We are making pancake appetizers, “make your own omelet” muffins and finish off with a breakfast cupcake! Kids ages 5-12 are welcome and registration is $15 per child. 

APRIL BREAK Week – Monday April 15th - Friday April 19th

Monday, April 15, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. 
Spring Cupcake Wars
 
Just like the show, we will separate the children into teams, give them a theme and let them create cupcakes to present to the judges. Pizza will be served for lunch. Kids ages 5-12 are welcome and registration is $15 per child. 

Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. 
We're "On a Roll!"
 
Everything we make today has “roll” in the name: Lasagna Roll-Ups, Ham and Cheese Pretzel Rolls and Roll-o Candy Cookies. Come have some fun and “roll with it”! Kids ages 5-12 are welcome and registration is $15 per child. 

Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. 
Iron Chef
 
Children will be presented with a secret ingredient and with the help of a Stew’s “Iron Chef,” they will prepare creative dishes to present to the judges. Kids ages 5-12 are welcome and registration is $25 per child. 

Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. 
Cupcakes for Dinner?
 
Yes, please! Today we are making Sheppard’s Pie cupcakes, Lasagna cupcakes, and for dessert, pineapple upside down cupcakes. Kids ages 5-12 are welcome and registration is $25 per child. 

Friday, April 19, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. 
Just Add Fruit!
 
We will still be baking delicious goodies, but we are making them the “healthy way”! Come and make carrot muffins, blueberry breakfast cake and chocolate chip banana bread! They make a great make-ahead breakfast or after school treat. Kids ages 5-12 are welcome and registration is $25 per child.

Friday, April 26, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. 
Toddlers in the Kitchen
 
Too young to bake and create? Not at Stew’s! Bring in your wee ones for some hands on fun in the kitchen as we make muffins, caterpillar pizza and decorate a mouse cupcake. We will do the set up, clean up and you just enjoy time with your toddler. Kids ages 2-5 are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is $15 per "couple."
