Update 5 p.m., Monday Oct. 29

There are about 198 Connecticut Light & Power customers in Rocky Hill who are currently without power. This is about 2 percent of the entire town.

Town Manager Barbara Gilbert said the town's Emergency Operations Center is now open, as well as Rocky Hill's shelter. Six people are now staying at the shelter.

CL&P provided the town a line truck and a tree crew and, beyond that, there have been no major issues with regard to the storm and no road closures, Gilbert said.

Rocky Hill Schools Closed Through Wednesday

From Rocky Hill Superintendent of Schools Mark Zito: Please be advised that all Rocky Hill schools will be closed on Tuesday, October 30 and Wednesday, October 31. We will continue to monitor the impact of Hurricane Sandy as the storm moves into our region. I am urging all families to take appropriate precautions to ensure safety. Thank you.

State Highways Closed

Gov. Malloy orders road closures for all state highways. Closing will be implemented in 2 phases. At 11am, trucks prohibited from limited access highways. At 1pm, state highways closed to all non-emergency related vehicles.

Buckland Hills Mall in Machester Closed

The Shoppes at Buckland Hills located at 194 Buckland Hills Drive in Manchester will close at Noon on Monday, October 29 due to the inclement weather created by Hurricane Sandy.  The mall will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, October 30, 2012  unless otherwise notified.

CT Transit Will Not Run Monday

Due to the expected weather impact of Hurricane Sandy, regular scheduled CTTRANSIT local or express bus services will NOT operate on Monday, October 29.

Rocky Hill Ferry

The state ferries including Rocky Hill Ferry are currently closed due to the storm.

Animal Emergency Hospital of Central CT Open for Emergencies

The Animal Emergency Hospital of Central CT "is equipped with generators so we are available to handle any emergent care needs for your pets even during a power outage."

The hospital is located at 588 Cromwell Avenue in Rocky Hill and can be reached at 860-563-4447.
