Rocky Hill Resident Named Inductee for Veterans Hall of Fame

A veteran of the Vietnam War and volunteer will be inducted into the state's Veterans Hall of Fame in December.

 

Ronald Catania of Rocky Hill is one of ten people who will be inducted into the Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame Class of 2011 on Dec. 2.

Catania served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, but his service to this country did not end there.

"The Hall of Fame recognizes distinguished veterans who have made significant contributions to their communities after leaving military service," according to the press release.

Following the 9-11 terrorist attacks, Catania, who is a vice-president of Sage Allen and Bob’s Stores, took clothing and shoes to New York City for the EMS workers, firefighters and police officers.

Catania serves on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Police Chiefs Assocation, volunteers at numerous charitable organizations and works with the return-to-work program for veterans.

An induction ceremony will be held on Dec. 2 in the Atrium of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford at 5 p.m. The event will be hosted by Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman and Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Linda Schwartz.
