Three Rocky Hill family members were part of a group that won over four million dollars after choosing the correct numbers in the Classic Lotto drawing last month.
Sal Fontana of Colchester, Maria Fontana, Sebastian Fontana and Giuseppa Fontana of Rocky Hill, and Joseph Fontana of Wethersfield were awarded half or $2.3 million of the $4.6 million prize. Paula Toland of Preston purchased the other winning ticket at Country Farm in Jewett City.
The Fontanas elected to receive the jackpot’s cash lump-sum value of $1,589,382 before taxes and each of the five members was given a prize check for $217,109 after taxes, according to the release.
The Fontana family bought one of the two winning tickets at . The winning numbers, which were revealed on March 30, were 4 - 14 - 16 - 24 - 30 – 42, according to the release.
The West Side Market will receive a $10,000 bonus from the Connecticut Lottery.
