Foundry Demolition Delayed

Connecticut Light and Power has not been able to inspect the utility poles on the site, which has caused the delay of the demolition of the Foundry.

The demolition of the Foundry, which was planned for Monday, has been delayed, Mayor Anthony LaRosa told the Town Council Monday night.

Connecticut Light and Power workers still have to visit the Foundry and inspect the utility poles on site. The storm is believed to be the cause of the delay, LaRosa said.

“Understandably so, they have been running ragged with what happened with the storm.”

Demolition cannot begin until all the utility companies have signed off on it. CL&P is the only utility company that still has to inspect the Foundry and sign off on the demolition, according to LaRosa.

"The sooner we get that done, the sooner they get their permit, the sooner we can start taking buildings down.“

LaRosa said he talked with the attorney for Riverfront Future Partners and he expected to have CL&P on site by the end of this week or next.
