Flu Shots Available at the Community Center Tuesday

Residents must bring their medical insurance cards to receive their flu vaccinations at no charge.

Seasonal flu vaccinations will be available at the Tuesday from 9 a.m. - noon.

The is offering the flu vaccinations for anyone above the age of four, regardless of their residence.

All Medicare Part B, ConnectiCare and Anthem plans will be billed and residents are asked to bring their medical insurance cards to receive their flu vaccinations at no charge. The cost for all others is $25 and a receipt will be provided upon request.

Pneumonia shots are available and the above-mentioned insurance providers can be billed.  The cost for all others is $50 and a receipt will be provided upon request.

Participants are also asked to wear short sleeves or loose-sleeved clothing.

As usual, the flu vaccine protects people from the 3 strains of influenza that are likely to be circulating this flu season. For the 2011-2012 season, the vaccine is comprised of A/California/7/2009 (H1N1), A/Perth/16/2009 (H3N2), and B/Brisbane/60/2008. Flu vaccines provide annual protection and flu strains change regularly, so it is important to get a new flu shot every year.

A flu clinic will also be held at the , at 230 Kensington Road, Thursday from 9 a.m. – noon.

Berlin, Newington, Rocky Hill and Wethersfield residents who are homebound may call the at 860-721-2818 to arrange for a home visit.
