The Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a . Anyone interested can drop by the class, which meets in Room 2 at the every Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. There is a $2 drop-in fee. The program, which is open to all skill levels, is for adults 50 years old and older.

Free Dental Care For Seniors

The (CCHD) in collaboration with the Emeritus Senior Living will be offering two free dental cleaning clinics on May 10 and 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at .

This program is only limited to five per day and anyone interested in the clinic is asked to contact Hilary Norcia at (860) 665-8571.

West Hill Donations

is collecting towels and bedding through Thursday, which will be donated to the Connecticut Humane Society.

Historical Day

On this day in history, Confederate General Stonewall Jackson was critically injured at the battles of Chancellorsville in 1863. Jackson was considered to be one of the most gifted tactical commanders during the Civil War and possibly in the country's history. He would die a few days after being shot from pneumonia.

The Italian painter, sculptor, engineer Leonardo da Vinci died on this day in 1519. Da Vinci is most famous for the paintings of the Mona Lisa, the Vitruvian Man and The Last Supper. 

Today is also national Truffle Day, according to punchbowl.com. A truffle, which was first created in 1895, is "a chocolate ganache center that is then coated in chocolate powder," the site said.
