The heavy down pour last week caused the patio at the to flood on Friday afternoon.

The worked alongside employees from the park and recreation and facilities departments to bail water out before any serious damage was caused to the patio, according to the library's Facebook page.

 Bella Flora Store Owner Named VP For Chamber

A former executive director for the and manager for Mary Thielke was elected vice president last week.

Thielke has been with Bella Flora for almost four years and has been the manager for a year and a half. Her husband, Benz, who is a hairdresser in West Hartford helps her with chamber events and at the store on certain holidays.

In 2008, Thielke served as the executive director at the chamber for two years. During her tenure, she rose its membership from 140 to 200 and started . She was nominated to the board of directors about one year ago.

Thielke has two children, Brandon, 20, and Schantal, 24. Brandon is in his senior year at the university of Connecticut to become al awyer and Schantal   is a maxillofacial surgical assistant. 

You Scream, I Scream, We Scream For Ice Cream

The will hold an on Aug. 17 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Anyone is welcome to make ice cream sundaes at no charge while enjoying    fellowship with members of the church community.

Forms Needed to Play High School Sports

Any student planning to play fall sports for during the 2012 season must complete the required registration forms before they can step onto the field.

The forms, which must be returned before fall practice starts, are available by clicking the following link or in the main office at the high school. Practice for football begins Aug. 20 and the rest of the sports will begin on Aug. 25. 

"No student/athlete will be allowed to try out with a high school team
unless all forms are returned before practice begins and you have a
current health physical," according to an email from school.

All information on the times and dates for fall practices is available on the school's website.
