The National Weather Service predicts a mostly, sunny day with a high near high 85 and a low around 65. There is a 60 percent chance of showers and  possibly a thunderstorm before 9 p.m.

MDC Collects Household Waste This Weekend

The Metropolitan District Commission will be hosting a household hazardous waste collection at the Rocky Hill Water Pollution Control Facility, located at 80 Goff Brook Ln., on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"Hazardous waste cannot be simply thrown out with the trash, flushed, or poured down the drain because it passes the problem along to the environment, polluting the air and the water," according to the MDC website.

If an item cannot be accepted at an MDC sponsored collection potential alternative disposal locations are listed.

Info Session for Therapeutic Foster Care

will be holding an next month.

The event is open to anyone and no commitment is necessary, if you attend the session.

The informational session will on Sept. 4 is from 4 to 6 p.m. inside 2189 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 7. The event is free of charge and light refreshments will be served. There will also be sessions on Oct. 2, Nov. 6 and Dec. 4.

West Hill Schools is Calling All Vendors, Crafters

Vendors and crafters are needed for an annual shopping event to benefit a Rocky Hill elementary school.

"Shop Til You Drop!" night will be on Nov. 20. from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at . 

"This is a perfect pre-holiday shopping opportunity," said West Hill School PTO President Nicki Holt.

No duplicate vendors will be accepted. Spots will be given on a first come, first serve. The deadline for submissions is Oct. 10.

Local Health Department Wants Residents to Have Healthy Teeth

The , which covers Rocky Hill, will be offering to residents age 60 and older later this month. 

The cleaning will be offered at on Aug. 28 and 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  

Appointments are required and anyone interested is asked to call 860-257-3820 for an appointment.

The program is "sponsored in part by a grant through the North Central Area Agency on Aging," according to the health district website.
