Town Center West

The Open Space and Conservation Commission decided to continue the public hearing on until June 13. The developer wants to revise the plans for the project before the next hearing.

Applicant Richard W. Vicino is proposing to build a shopping center called Town Center West at the southeast corner of West Street and Cromwell Avenue. The project is similar to the one in Blue Back Square in West Hartford or the Evergreen Walk in South Windsor.

The plans include a 4,500-square-foot bank, a 6,500-square-foot restaurant and two other retail buildings with one being more than 15,000 square feet and another more than 10,000 square feet.

A public hearing on the project will be at the Planning and Zoning Commission’s next scheduled meeting on June 20 at 6:30 p.m. inside the Council Chambers at .

The Planning and Zoning Commission cannot take action on the application until the Open Space and Conservation Commission renders its decision.

The texts and/or maps for the application are on file in the Planning Department at Town Hall and can be viewed by any member of the public.

Bark at Park

The New Britain Rocks Cats will host its annual Bark in the Park where patrons could bring their dog to ball park on July 16.

The Rock Cats will play the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at 7 p.m. The gates open at 6 p.m. The price of tickets for people are $6 and $12 for dogs.

Tickets are available at the Parks and Recreation Department office and all proceeds will go toward the Rocky Hill Dog Park.

Video Game Addiction

About 30 community members attended a will be offered in Glastonbury Wednesday night.

Dr. Ryan Van Cleave, who was once addicted to video games himself, was the keynote speaker at the “Is it really just a game?” lecture and presentation.

Cleave has appeared on the Headline News Network, Dr. Drew and Sirius Satellite Radio as well as in USA Today, the Guardian, St. Petersburg Times and the Miami Herald.

The event was presented by the Rushford and the Glastonbury Alcohol & Drug Council at the Riverfront Community Center.
